Hi everyone, thought this would be easier than trying to attach emails to everything. Hopefully I will update every few days. Everything has been fine so far, no problems or anything. The flight was a flight. I sat next to a girl about my age going abroad for the first time to do an internship, so we made eachother feel better.

I arrived at the airport and almost freaked out when I had to search faces for the girl who was picking me up, but she found me easily and drove me on a scary ride (they drive like maniacs) to the hostel. i got into my hostel room and "unpacked" (aka left most of my stuff in my duffel bag and took out my toiletries). I set up my mosquito net! (hehe i think its so neat!)
I was very parched, and so I asked where I could get some water. Turns out, the hostel sells water by the 100's for very cheap. They
come in little plastic baggies that you can drink from (see picture). After I was all set up in my room, my roomate (who is an exchange student from Holland and has been here a little over a week) and another exchange student from Germany were going to the beach.I decided that the beach sounded like a good idea, as it would help me
stay up and active. we took Tro-Tro's to the beach (they are white vans which fit as many people as humanly possible and drive crazily). They are basically like buses, but they have no schedule and just a generalized area of where they go. You need to know where you are going and when you get there you need to tell them to stop. I didnt get a picture but I will tomorrow. All in all the city is pretty third world. there are shanty towns , yet there are tons of mercedes and BMWs. I didn't take very many pictures of the city because i was trying to acclimate myself and pay attention to directions and such. Hopefully i will post every few days, so keep checking! Hope all is well at home --Amanda
